# Create a test session
On the **New Test Session** screen, enter a Web, Desktop, Local Device, mobile, or Multi-Device scenario and run the session directly. This page explains how to start each session type.

While the cursor is in **Test instructions**, press Command+Enter (Mac) or Ctrl+Enter (Windows/Linux) to start the session immediately.

## Start a Web session
For a Web session, enter a scenario and start the session in Aximo's cloud browser environment. Before sending it, optionally configure the start URL, model, and hostname overrides.

1. Click **New Session**.
2. At the top of the screen, select **Web**.
3. In **Test instructions**, enter the action you want to test and the expected result.
4. Optionally, to insert a variable, OTP, or file, select the item from **Insert memory**.
5. Optionally, in **Start URL (optional)**, enter a URL.
6. Optionally, select **Model**.

7. Optionally, select **Hostname overrides**.
8. In the lower-right corner, click **Run Test**.

**Test instructions** must be at least 10 characters. You cannot start a session with fewer than 10 characters.

The **Hostname overrides** field is displayed only when at least one hostname override is registered in memories.

## Start a Desktop session
For a Desktop session, run the scenario in a browser on your registered device instead of Aximo's cloud environment.

2. At the top of the screen, select **Desktop**.
3. In **Test instructions**, enter the action you want to test and the expected result.
4. Optionally, to insert a variable, OTP, or file, select the item from **Insert memory**.
5. Optionally, in **Start URL (optional)**, enter a URL.
6. Optionally, select **Model**.
7. Click **Choose Device**.

8. In the modal, select the registered device to use.
9. Click **Confirm**.
10. In the lower-right corner, click **Run Test**.

* **Desktop** is displayed only when BYOD is enabled for the organization.

## Start a Local Device session
For a Local Device session, run the scenario on a registered iOS or Android phone. Use the **Local Device** tab for your registered phone, and use **Mobile** when you want a Device Farm device instead.
1. Click **New Session**.
2. At the top of the screen, select **Local Device**.
3. In **Test instructions**, enter the action you want to test and the expected result.
4. Optionally, to insert a variable, OTP, or file, select the item from **Insert memory**.
5. Optionally, select **Model**.
6. Click **Local Device**.
7. In the modal, select the registered iOS or Android phone to use.
8. Click **Confirm**.
9. Optionally, on Android, click **Choose App** and select the uploaded app to launch.
10. In the lower-right corner, click **Run Test**.

* Only registered iOS and Android phones are available on this tab. **Choose App** is available only for Android phones.

* After you select an uploaded app on Android, Aximo installs it on the phone automatically before the session starts and then launches it.
* The **Choose App** flow lists only apps that were already uploaded. To add a new app, upload it first from [Apps](/memories/shared-memories/memory-apps.md).
* Register the phone first from [Manage registered devices](/settings/registered-devices.md).

## Start a mobile session
For a mobile session, enter a scenario and select the Device Farm device to run it on. Optionally add the target app on the same screen.

2. At the top of the screen, select **Mobile**.
3. In **Test instructions**, enter the action you want to test and the expected result.
4. Optionally, to insert a variable, OTP, or file, select the item from **Insert memory**.
5. Click **Choose App & Device**.

6. In the modal, select **iOS** or **Android**.
7. Optionally, in the search box in the **Device** section, enter a name, manufacturer, model, or OS.
8. In the **Device** section, select the device to use from the list.
9. Optionally, in the **App** section, select an existing upload, or upload a new app by dragging and dropping a file or using **Choose a file**.
10. Click **Confirm**.
11. In the lower-right corner, click **Run Test**.

* In mobile sessions that run on iOS devices, you cannot insert files from **Insert memory**.

* The **Mobile** tab is not displayed in self-hosted environments.
* To run on your registered iOS or Android phone instead, use the **Local Device** tab.
* Selecting an app is optional. Start a session with only a device selected if needed.
* For app selection rules, such as the maximum of 3 apps, primary app behavior, and restrictions for **Expired** or **Refreshing...** apps, see [Apps](/memories/shared-memories/memory-apps.md#use-in-mobile-sessions-and-cases).

## Start a Multi-Device session
When enabled for your organization, use a Multi-Device session to run one scenario across a mix of web browsers and mobile devices. Registered Desktop devices are not included in this mode.
1. Click **New Session**.
2. At the top of the screen, select **Multi-Device**.
3. In **Test instructions**, enter the action you want to test and the expected result.
4. Optionally, to insert a variable, OTP, or file, select the item from **Insert memory**.
5. Optionally, select **Model**.
6. In **Devices**, click **Add Device**.
7. To add a browser, select **Web browser**, then optionally enter **Start URL (optional)**.
8. To add a mobile device, select **Mobile device**, then choose the platform, device, and optional app in the modal.
9. Repeat until at least two devices are listed.
10. Optionally, rename each device so the AI can distinguish them more easily during the run.
11. In the lower-right corner, click **Run Test**.

* Multi-Device sessions require between two and three devices.
* **Multi-Device** is displayed only when it is enabled for the organization.
* Registered Desktop devices are not supported in Multi-Device sessions.

* Next to **Model**, you can check the total per-step credits for the current device set. Each device row also shows its per-device surcharge.
* Files inserted from **Insert memory** are available to each device added to the session.
